Attorney Al AmerAl F. Amer has an excellent reputation as being an experienced, knowledgeable and aggressive criminal trial lawyer.  He began his legal career in 1998 where he was a Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.  In 2006, he left the L.A. District Attorney's Office and became an Assistant District Attorney with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office where he worked as a felony prosecutor until June 2007.  At that time, Mr. Amer started the Law Offices of Al F. Amer where he dedicated his practice exclusively to criminal defense.

At the Los Angeles and Dallas County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Amer handled thousands of cases dealing with many different crimes including Driving Under the Influence, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with a Suspended License, Petty Theft, Vandalism, Trespassing, Assault, Battery, Possession and Sale of Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamine and other drugs, Proposition 36 drug crimes, Possession of Weapons, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery, Kidnapping, Stalking, Carjacking, Murder, Attempted Murder, Gang crimes, Grand Theft, White Collar crimes, Criminal Threats, and many others.  Mr. Amer also filed hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases, and has a decade of experience negotiating "plea agreements" or "plea bargains".  As a D.A., he also conducted hundreds of preliminary hearings and juvenile adjudications/trials.

Mr. Amer has also independently completed dozens of jury trials with the majority of these cases being felony cases, many where the defendant faced life in prison or was charged under the "three strikes" law.  Mr. Amer has a very impressive trial record as
he understands what it takes to be successful in trial.

While he was a student at Loyola Law School, Mr. Amer clerked for the Honorable Aurelio Munoz (Superior Court judge), the Los Angeles City Attorney's Civil Liabilities section, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office Environmental Crimes unit.

Mr. Amer is currently licensed to practice law in California and Texas.  He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Orange County Bar Association, the West Orange County Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Dallas County Bar Association and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
